Basic chords and Strumming patterns

Strumming Patterns
basically speaking there are only 2 types of strumming patterns
 1) up stroke and 2) downstroke
Upstroke :when you move your wrist from down to up across the guitar strings that is is up stroke
Downstroke : when you move your wrist from up to down across the strings that is a downstroke
when up stroke and down stroke  played in different patterns we get different rhythms
for eg one up two down strokes , three up  five down stroke  etc

Guitar notes and scales very basic
as guitar plays a form of music and so i should have  a scale
so guitar scale has this notes A ( A# ) B C (C#) D (D#)  E F (F#)  G   G#
and the basic notes A B C D E F G and they give rise to chord forms that a major and minor set
comprising of same notes

here the notes A B C D E F G are natural notes with basic tuning we can see that the first fret
consist of notes fret are Fon high E sting of guitar C on  B string  G# on G string D# on d string
A# on a string and F on low e string so we can see that as we move down the fretboard the tone raises as # raises the natural note by half

guitar  basic chords

now in fig above u came see the most used basic guitar chords
x represents that the string is not to be played and o as it should be open string played in other
words without fretting
if u see the A chord it contains the note A E G so to play a A chord we must fret the guitar fret board
on G string 2 fret that is a A note D string 2 fret  which is  a E note and hence on when u see the number below the chord it states the fingers used while fretting
as i have said earlier 1 is index 2 is middle and 3 is ring use this and try to fret A chord try to strum both up and down strokes without any dead sounding string if there is any dead sound there are chances that you r not using only the tip of your finger(as i said earlier use only the tip) or two fingers may be in contact with the single string so after u have have good sounding clean stroke try different combinations of up and down strokes
here you see that the F chord is different here you have to fret two strings with index finger which can be difficult in the start but u will get practise as time pass by and your dedication and concenteration
just try these basic chords and try to switching between them without stopping the stroke will take time and practise

a basic approach

String instrument

Guitar is 6 or 12 string instrument but most of them prefer to take 6 string.Guitar is either electric or acoustic. The strings named as eadgbE from 1st (from ground) tp 6 th(top) . first and foremost thing u will need to make sure is that your guitar is well tuned.Looking at the picture u may have an idea of parts of guitar

Tuning
As a beginner the best option available is to buy  a electric tuner
because it is cheap and the result is 99% correct but if u want learn tuning
follow these steps without tuned guitar your chords will not sound correct.

Guitar strings are tuned to certain notes on the piano. If you have access to a piano, you can use it to tune your guitar. Find middle C on the keyboard and then go down the scale to the next E. The thickest string on the guitar should be adjusted to sound exactly like this note. Low E, the thick string, will be the top string as you look down if you’re holding the instrument properly. If you are right handed, you hold the neck with your left hand and strum with the right. Adjust string tension and sound by turning the tuning keys on the neck of the guitar. Work your way up the keyboard, from low notes to higher notes. The strings of the guitar, going from thickest to thinnest, should be tuned to these notes: E, A, D, G, B, E. This will give you a natural guitar chord.
If there isn’t a piano nearby you can still tune the strings in relation to each other. Tuning the strings in relation to the other strings on the guitar is the key factor in making that guitar playable and your experience pleasurable.
Staring with the thickest (E) string, adjust the tension by turning the tuning key attached to that string until you hear a comfortable bass note. Don’t turn it too tight! It should play easily with little force. The other strings will be tuned in relation to the E string and you don’t want to bend that guitar neck by over-tightening all of the strings.
Place one finger just behind the 5th fret of that large E string. A fret is that little area on the neck under the strings separated by those rises or thin bars protruding towards the strings. Press the string down onto the area behind the fifth rise. This is the note that you want to tune the second thickest, or A string to. Adjust the tension on your A string so that it sounds the same as the note being made while pushing down on the fifth fret of E string with your finger while you play it.

picking

guitar can be played with the help of a pick or bare hands  hold the pick at a angle of 45 degrees while strumming the first and foremost thing required to learn to play a guitar is hand  positions and postures. to hold  a pick catch it in the way shown in th picture
between the thumb and fingers , just little portion must be outside the grip.

Right hand position
the right hand position can be seen in the picture beside, just rest your palm on the
bridge of the guitar the picking movement must come from the wrist and not from the entire
hand

 Left hand position
the thumb must be position a little firmly behind the fretboard and the fretting fingers
must form a arc when touching the frets.only the tip of the thumb must be used for
fret contact.Left hand fingers are numbered so that it can be easy for beginner
here is how they are numbered index as 1 middle as 2 ring as 3 pinky as four
in next post u will see chord diagram where u will get some idea

Holding the guitar standing and sitting positions
make sure when you are holding the guitar in standing position the guitar doesnot goes below the waist level
the fretboard must be pointing in upward direction ,while sitting sit on a armless chair back not tending forward fretboard pointing a little upward direction use a foot stool for convinience.
